The TU Honors Program offers a unique opportunity for graduating high school seniors with exceptional academic records and a spirit of intellectual curiosity.
Through lively discussions, Honors Scholars tackle perennial questions, explore the intersection of ideas, and develop the intellectual agility of interdisciplinary thinkers.
Because these courses are credited to the student’s general curriculum and elective requirements, the Honors Program is compatible with any major offered at TU.
Opportunities and Benefits
By participating in the Honors Program, Honors Scholars will:
- Cultivate the ability to think across disciplines and to make connections between them;
- Develop intellectual camaraderie with students and faculty;
- Find their own voices;
- Take ownership of their education;
- Shift from strategic learning to deep learning;
- Benefit from the guidance of an Honors Mentor; and
- Graduate with a bibliography and an intellectual autobiography of their college studies
Honors Scholars who complete their Honors Portfolio earn the “Honors Scholar” designation on their transcript and an Honors medallion.
Admission and Scholarship Information
Students interested in the Honors Program must submit a separate Honors Program Application. The Honors Program Selection Committee will meet regularly beginning in January to review applications. February 1 is the priority deadline; applications received after Feb. 1 will be reviewed only as long as seats remain open in the program and scholarship funds remain available.
Successful applicants usually score in the 95th percentile on the ACT or SAT, earn a high school grade point average of at least 3.5 or rank in the top 10 percent of their graduating classes.
An Honors Program scholarship is given annually to each participant. For more information about the Honors Program scholarship, contact Financial Aid Office at 918-631-2526.
Honors Suites are available on a first-come, first-served basis to incoming Honors. To be considered, Scholars must list Honors Suites as one of their preferences in their housing paperwork, as well as inform the Honors Program. For more information about Honors Suites, contact The University of Tulsa Housing and Dining Services at 918-631-2516.
