Barbara Abercrombie is The University of Tulsa’s vice president and chief human resources officer. Prior to joining TU, Abercrombie served as vice chancellor for organizational effectiveness and chief human capital officer at the University of North Texas System. Before that, she was the vice president of human resources and organizational effectiveness and chief human resources officer at Texas A&M University in College Station. Other senior roles Abercrombie has held include associate vice chancellor for administration and chief human resources officer at the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville and director of human resources at the University of Oklahoma at Tulsa.

Abercrombie’s leadership in human resources and organizational effectiveness is informed by a master’s in human relations from the University of Oklahoma and a doctorate in workforce education and human resource development from Oklahoma State University. An expert in the collaborative leadership model, Abercrombie is a certified Senior Professional in Human Resources and a member of the National Board for the College and University Professional Association for Human Resources.
