As vice president and chief human resources officer for The University of Tulsa, Rachel Steward directs all aspects of human resources including strategic leadership, workforce planning, talent management, and organizational development. Steward is a transformative HR leader who is passionate about creating collaborative, dynamic HR teams that deliver a commitment to excellence. She is focused on fostering a positive workplace culture, enhancing organizational effectiveness, and ensuring HR strategies align seamlessly with the broader mission and goals of the organization.

Prior to joining UTulsa, Steward served 23 years in the healthcare industry in varying HR leadership positions. She was instrumental in steering organizations through complex changes and driving operational excellence.

Steward graduated with a bachelor’s degree from Northeastern State University, maintains her Professional in Human Resources certification, and is a member of both the national and local HR chapters. She graduated with a master’s in organizational dynamics from the University of Oklahoma, along with obtaining graduate certificates in organizational psychology and research.
