Position Summary

The Admissions Counselor and Enrollment Specialist for the Master of Jurisprudence Program at the TU College of Law reports to the Assistant Dean of Online Legal Education and is responsible for assisting in all aspects of admissions and recruiting for the College of Law’s MJ Program. Seasonal travel (some overnight) to represent the MJ Program at various recruiting events is required of this position.

Characteristic Duties

  • Communicates with prospective MJ candidates by telephone, e-mail, and face-to-face interaction
  • Plans, develops, implements and evaluates outreach programs, special projects, events and other marketing initiatives designed to increase admission yield rate and enrollment
  • Implements diversity objectives as they relate to recruiting and outreach
  • Assists with the development and generation of electronic and printed marketing tools
  • Assists with the coordination of all on- and off-campus recruiting events
  • Promotes and cultivates relationships/partnerships with college pre-law advisors and student organizations as well as College of Law alumni, faculty, students, administrators and members of the legal community
  • Reviews a high volume of application files; counsels prospective MJ students
  • Provides a leadership role in managing international applicants and LL.M. application files
  • Prepares spreadsheet data, reports, and specified relevant documents as identified by the Assistant Dean of Online Legal Education
  • Takes assertive ownership of departmental goals and initiatives
  • Assumes a proactive role in assisting the Assistant Dean of Online Legal Education with monitoring and analyzing national and regional application trends as well as applicant and enrollment data
  • Travels (seasonal/overnight) and appears at various recruiting events

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree; at least two years of experience with higher education admissions and recruitment or comparable administrative work experience involving a high level of professional responsibility; excellent organizational and interpersonal skills; ability to work independently and collaboratively; excellent ability to multitask and prioritize large projects successfully; ability to travel by car and air; excellent verbal and written communication skills including high comfort level with regard to public speaking; strong computer skills including proficiency in producing reports and documents via MS Excel, Word and other programs; ability to work effectively with a diverse group of people located both internally and externally to the university; ability to work weekends and evenings. A combination of education/work experience may be substituted for the minimum qualifications.

Preferred Qualifications

Master’s degree in higher education or four years of higher education admissions and recruiting experience with a proven record of increasing enrollment and diversity numbers; demonstrated experience with event programming/coordinating; knowledge of web content management and Harvey or Blackboard is a plus.
