Position Summary

The University is preparing to launch a Nurse Anesthesia program which leads to a DNP degree. The program has completed a capability site visit with the COA. We are seeking applications for an Assistant Program Director to work with the Program Director to prepare the program for launch in Fall of 2019, pending the award of initial accreditation by the COA.

The Nurse Anesthesia Assistant program Director is appointed by and reports to the Director of the Nurse Anesthesia Program at The University of Tulsa. This position is a 12-month non-tenure track position. Academic rank will be commensurate with qualifications and experience related to the position.

Characteristic Duties

  • Teaches didactic courses consistent with academic preparation, knowledge and training
  • Assists the Program Director with administrative and day-to-day operations of the program
  • Works with the Program Director and other faculty to ensure appropriate coordination of the didactic, simulation, research, and clinical practicum segments of the program
  • Serves on program, school, college, and university committees to which elected or appointed
  • Assists in recruitment and admission processes
  • Monitors, guides, counsels, and advises students in their progression through the program
  • Assists the Program Director with accreditation requirements

Minimum Qualifications

Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing; graduate of an accredited program of Nurse Anesthesia; Doctoral degree in Nursing, Nurse Anesthesia, or related discipline from an institution of higher education that was accredited by an agency officially recognized by the US Secretary of Education to accredit institutions at the time the degree was conferred; at least three years of clinical experience as a practicing CRNA; record of effective classroom teaching; current certification or recertification by the NBCRNA; unencumbered current license to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse and APRN in Oklahoma; experientially qualified to assist the CRNA program administrator and, if required, assume leadership responsibilities for the program; formal instruction in curriculum, evaluation, and instruction; current knowledge of institutional and programmatic accreditation requirements for Nurse Anesthesia educational programs.

Preferred Qualifications

Advance Practice Nursing credential. Five years of experience in an administrative or leadership position in an academic setting.
