Position Summary

The Operations Technician will assist in experimental research activities and the operation of the Coking test facility that consists of small scale reactors and pilot units to collect and process experimental data. Specific responsibilities include: setting up research experiments; operating the test facility keeping logs of data; troubleshooting and maintaining a research facility, including control systems and instrumentation; supporting graduate students with experimental research projects; and maintaining an adequate inventory of consumables and spare parts to ensure normal uninterrupted use of facilities.

Minimum Qualifications

One to three years of work experience; experience in maintenance of pumps, compressors and control valves in a high pressure environment; mechanical aptitude and basic electronic skills; capable of developing operating procedures; ability to work independently without close supervision; demonstrated safe working practices in compliance with OSHA and EPA requirements; ability to work with a diverse group of faculty, students and staff; excellent verbal and written communication skills; and working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.


8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday; some swing shift may be required during testing.
