Position Summary

​The Shuttle Bus Driver reports to the Support Services Captain and under the direction of the Lead Shuttle Bus Driver are responsible for providing safe and efficient shuttle bus service to the campus community. Specific responsibilities include driving a shuttle bus to transport passengers along a scheduled route; transporting individuals with disabilities; performing service and maintenance to bus such as cleaning interior and exterior, fueling, and checking fluid levels; conducting pre-trip inspections in compliance with state regulations; keeping vehicle and passenger logs; complying with all rules and regulations regarding the operation of motor vehicles in city streets and state highways- Communication Commission; maintaining regular radio contact with the Communications Center; reporting any unusual situations and requesting assistance from Campus Security Officers, Tulsa Police and Tulsa Fire Department personnel when necessary; providing basic information, direction and assistance to University personnel, students, and visitors.

Characteristic Duties

  • Drives university vehicles as required for the position as a Shuttle Bus Driver
  • Obeys all city, state and federal driving regulations
  • Conducts daily inspections of assigned vehicle(s) to ensure they are in a safe operating condition and that they are free from mechanical deficiencies and damage
  • Conduct pre-trip inspections of assigned vehicle(s) in compliance with state and federal regulations
  • Conduct daily maintenance of assigned vehicle(s) to ensure proper fuel and fluid levels are maintained and that the interior and exterior is clean and free of debris
  • Reporting any vehicle mechanical deficiencies, maintenance issues or damage to the Lead Shuttle Bus Driver and/or Support Services Captain
  • Occasionally works extended hours because of increased work load
  • Occasionally adjusts scheduled work hours to meet the demands of service
  • Any other duties as assigned by the Director, Support Services Captain or Lead Shuttle Bus Driver

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent certificate
  • Current Oklahoma Class B Commercial Drivers License with a Passenger and Air Brake endorsement
  • Because of insurance requirements must be 23 years or older
  • Six (6) months experience operating a bus, tram, van or like vehicle
  • Meeting the hiring employment requirements of the University of Tulsa
  • The ability to successfully complete and maintain medical standards as required by the Oklahoma Department of Transportation
  • The ability to successfully complete a pre-employment drug screening
  • The ability to successfully complete a pre-employment back ground and criminal history check

Hours

​Part-time seasonal work, hours and days off vary; may require working weekends and evenings.
