Position Summary

The Tulsa Immigrant Resource Network (“TIRN”) seeks a part-time (20 hours per week) Spanish-English interpreter/receptionist to begin in August 2016.

TIRN is a legal services program operated through the TU College of Law Legal Clinic and funded by the George Kaiser Family Foundation. TIRN has three primary goals: 1) create and train a network of local attorneys to provide pro bono representation to vulnerable immigrants; 2) provide community education on legal rights and immigration remedies; and 3) provide direct legal representation in immigration proceedings to the greater Tulsa area noncitizen population. Spanish-English interpretation is needed for client meetings as well as for community events and immigration legal clinics.

Characteristic Duties

  • Attends attorney-client meetings to interpret communications between the attorney and the client from English to Spanish and Spanish to English, as needed
  • Translates Spanish language documents, such as birth and marriage certificates, for submission in a client’s immigration case
  • Attends community events to interpret between attorneys and attendees
  • Staffs front desk at TIRN’s main office located in downtown Tulsa at 1215 S. Boulder Ave.

Minimum Qualifications

Demonstrated fluency in Spanish
