Arts & Sciences Academics

Kendall College of Arts & Sciences programs blend liberal arts mentorship with research resources, leveraging Tulsa's unique history. Offering 37 undergraduate and eight graduate degrees, we prepare students for diverse careers with high post-graduation success through introspection, inquiry, and problem-solving.

Academic Approach

——————————

Our academic programs combine the best qualities of small liberal arts colleges and large research universities. Like the best small liberal arts colleges, we closely mentor students as we ask the big questions and cultivate the ability to question deeply and think critically; like the top large research universities, we engage students in our world-class labs, museums, studios, and the City of Tulsa’s many nonprofit, governmental, and cultural institutions. We’re in a city with a unique, nationally important history – from the Native American tribes that are headquartered here, to Black Wall Street, to the thriving music scene that drew Bob Dylan to locate his archives here. Whether our students are exploring paleolithic artifacts or applying economics lessons to improve social and environmental conditions, we learn by doing.

This broad, liberal education prepares students for a vast range of careers, from law, to medicine, to museum and library science. Above all, we prepare future citizens, leaders, and lifelong learners.

Undergraduate

With 37 degree programs and the ability to craft your own major, our students have the flexibility to forge their own path. All of our students complete a capstone experience, most chose multiple majors or minors, and nearly 50% do study-abroad or internships with programs like our D’Arcy program.

Above all, we ensure that every one of our students receives a foundational education that prepares them for a fulfilling life and meaningful career.  And we’re proud that over 94% are admitted to law school, medical school, graduate school, or have a job within six months of graduation. We don’t assume that our students know exactly where life will take them: careers evolve, plans change, and our economy constantly develops in new and unexpected directions. But by cultivating deep habits of introspection, inquiry, and creative problem solving, we ensure that all our students are prepared for whatever comes next.

Graduate

The college offers eight graduate degrees in psychology, English, museum science, and anthropology for students who seek to shape their fields and disciplines through advanced study and original research. Our graduate students contribute to the college’s core educational mission as teachers, scholars, and students, often mentoring undergraduates and working to advance faculty-led research in our labs.
