I. Introduction to Computer Security (CEIS 4013.31)
Times: Tuesdays and Thursdays, August 22-October 10—6:00 PM-9:00 PM
This class is an introduction to security programs in computing, basic encryption and decryption techniques, secure encryption systems, cryptographic protocols and practices, security in networks and distributed systems, and legal and ethical issues in computer security
II. Protecting Networks & Automated Information Systems (CEIS 4413.31)
Times: Tuesdays and Thursdays, October 15-December 12—6:00 PM-9:00 PM
“Protecting Networks…” is a comprehensive study of security for current and developing information systems and networks, and investigates both host-based and networkbased intrusion detection. Students will learn about network security appliances including firewalls and access control devices. The class familiarizes students with database and operating system protection techniques, tools and technologies.
Spring 2014 Course Schedule
I. IT Security Risk Management (CEIS 4313.31)
Times: Tuesdays and Thursdays, January 8-February 28—6:00 PM-9:00 PM
“Security Risk Management” concentrates on risk analysis and threat profiling for mission critical information systems. The course will focus on adversarial analysis and countermeasure synthesis, as well as policy development and implementation, incident handling and response, and issues of legal liability and regulatory compliance.
II. Secure Electronic Commerce (CEIS 4113.31)
Times: Tuesdays and Thursdays, March 5-May 2—6:00 PM-9:00 PM
“Secure Electronic Commerce” will explore electronic commerce technology, models, and issues. Students will look at the principles and case studies of electronic commerce. This course serves as an introduction to security architectures for electronic commerce including digital signatures, certificates and public key infrastructure (PKI). The class will also focus on legal and national policy electronic commerce issues.
III. Enterprise Security Management (4213.31)
Times: Tuesdays and Thursdays, May 7-June 27—6:00 PM-9:00 PM
This course focuses on the managerial aspects of computer security and risk management for enterprises. Course focuses include: accreditation, procurement, extension and operation principles for secure computing systems, security policy and plan development, contingency, continuity, disaster recovery planning, and incident handling and response.
