Computer Science Facilities
The Tandy School of Computer Science is housed on the second floor of J. Newton Rayzor Hall where a dedicated network allows for experimental application development and testing. Students have access to three main computer labs:
RH 2015 – XR Studio Research Lab
XR Studio Research Lab, located within RH 2015, is a cutting-edge facility at the forefront of spatial computing exploration. Designed as a collaborative hub for pioneering research projects, our lab serves as a dynamic playground for research students delving into the realms of virtual reality, augmented reality, and mixed realities. At the heart of our XR Studio lies a captivating LED wall, facilitating groundbreaking research in virtual production. This feature provides a canvas for exploring new dimensions of storytelling and visual expression. Complementing this, our VR tracking system enables precise spatial mapping, unlocking endless possibilities for interactive experiences.
RH 2045 – Instruction & Tutoring Lab
RH 2045 is the primary teaching lab for courses in computer science. The lab provides 40 PC’s equipped with resources for developing in Java, Python and other languages.
In the evening after classes, the lab becomes the CS/CSG Tutoring lab. The CS/CSG Tutoring lab is available to all students enrolled in a CS/CSG course and/or support course.
The tutoring lab is staffed with skilled student tutors eager to assist and answer questions. Whether you need access to a computer with specific software, help on an assignment, need a quiet space to bring your laptop and work, or just want to connect with other students the CS/CSG Lab is the place to be.
RH 2055 – CSG Studio Lab
Computer Simulation & Gaming (CSG) Studio state-of-the-art lab provides exclusive access to industry-standard software and hardware and enables students to unleash their potential like never before. Whether sculpting 3D models, breathing life into animations, crafting immersive games, or developing interactive virtual worlds our studio provides the essential tools for every facet of CSG project development. Equipped with 20 VR-capable gaming PCs, our studio is primed to handle the demands of cutting-edge development. With each workstation meticulously optimized for performance, students have the power at their fingertips to push the boundaries of what’s possible in real-time 3D.
