  • Cyber security is one of the fastest growing and highest-demand job specializations in the world. The industry estimates more than 1 million cyber security jobs worldwide and more than 200,000 in the U.S. remain unfilled. Cyber security professionals command an average 9% salary premium over other IT workers.
  • Positioned to succeed as technical and managerial leaders, graduates go on to work in private and public sectors as well as in academia. Job opportunities include roles such as chief information security officer, cyber defense analyst, information systems security developer, penetration tester, systems security engineer, and teacher.
  • Cyber security skills are highly sought after by federal government agencies, national laboratories, law enforcement and intelligence communities, and the private sector. Alumni employers include Amazon, Google, IBM X Force Red, the National Security Agency (NSA), Paycom, and True Digital Security.

Funding Opportunities

Graduate assistantships covering tuition and a monthly stipend are available. The following fellowships are also available:

  • The Ben Graf Henneke Graduate Research Fellowship — full tuition, a monthly stipend, and funded study abroad opportunities for master’s students
  • The Dissertation Completion Fellowship, Foster Brooks Parriott Fellowship, Summer Fellowships, and Graduate Assistantships, and Merit Based Scholarship — up to 21 hours of tuition and a monthly stipend for doctoral students in their final year.
  • A wide variety of cyber security scholarships (up to $5,000) and external funding opportunities are available for graduate students. Our department offers resources to help students identify and apply for these opportunities.
