Study Abroad
The Center for Global Engagement strives to make international experiences possible for all students by working with them to find options that fit their academic, personal, and professional goals as well as satisfying major, budget, and timeframe requirements. Beyond finding the classes and locations that are right for students, the CGE is proud to offer international internship, research, service-learning, and volunteering experiences as well.
The University of Tulsa is committed to a price model that makes study abroad affordable. Students who study abroad for a semester continue to pay their UTulsa tuition, with all federal and university financial aid and scholarships transferable (there may be additional fees for appeal programs). See scholarship & finances and the financial policy for details.
Explore all programs
Whether you want to go abroad for a summer, semester or year to take classes or pursue a research, internship or service learning experience, the first step is to explore the CGE list of approved programs.
As you explore the approved programs, we encourage you to spend time thinking about your unique personal and academic, professional and cultural goals for your time abroad.
Search for semester programs, summer programs, or browse all programs:
If you have specific questions about what program might be right for your degree plan, e-mail or schedule a meeting with the study abroad advising staff.
Apply
Once you find the right program for you, go to the program page on the CGE website, click on the APPLY NOW button and create an application. It should be completed before the posted deadline. There are generally two deadlines each year: for ALL spring semester programs, the UTulsa application deadline is October 1st; and for ALL summer, fall and full year programs, the UTulsa application deadline is March 1st.
You will need approval from your college, as a part of the application process, in order to get credit for all coursework, including internships, research or independent study, that you plan to take abroad. You will do this through the Course Approval Database.
Each study abroad program or host university requires a separate application with unique eligibility criteria and deadlines. It’s essential to carefully review program details since they may differ from UTulsa’s requirements.

After you’ve been accepted into your program and conditionally approved to study abroad by UTulsa, it is time to prepare to go abroad! The next step is to attend the mandatory final advising meeting with your program’s study abroad advisor to discuss a study abroad budget, visas, immunization requirements, and any other concerns you have.
Students are required to participate in an online pre-departure orientation and attend a pre-departure meeting in preparation for their abroad program. During the orientation, they will hear from CGE staff and study abroad returnees. Completion is mandatory for final approval to study abroad.
