Physics & Engineering Physics

Physics majors obtain a solid foundation in physics and mathematics in preparation for a technical or scientific career. Our students can study theoretical topics in fields such as quantum mechanics and condensed matter physics and gain experimental experience in nanotechnology, optics, lasers or solid-state physics.

Engineering Physics majors receive a professional, multidisciplinary, ABET-accredited engineering education that is in strong demand in today’s industries. Physics and professional engineers’ instruction incorporates engineering standards and realistic constraints to prepare our students for careers in industry, government, and higher education while instilling a desire for lifelong learning.

Common passion unites diverse minds in Physics Journal Club

In the heart of Tulsa, the UTulsa Physics Journal Club brings together a diverse group of UTulsa students, faculty, local high school students, teachers, and lifelong learners to discuss the latest in physics. Meeting almost every second Tuesday since 1997, the club has held around 200 sessions. Notably, Jonah Brandenburgh, who started attending at age 8, is now a 17-year-old junior at UTulsa. The club's ongoing success underscores its ability to engage and inspire learners of all ages to pursue knowledge.
