I’ve never been one to eat out much since I prefer home cooked authentic Indian food. I thought this would be the hardest adjustment after moving away from home; however, it actually hasn’t been bad! The Allen Chapman Student Union has tons of options, including Sushi Blu, Tossed, Subway, Benvenuto, Einstein Bros Bagels, Sol Tex Mex, Chick-Fil-A, Tulsa Burgers & Wing Co, and the cafeteria line. In the McFarlin Library, the McFarlin Library Cafe allows for quick coffee or baked goods. These restaurants can accommodate for allergies, food restrictions, and more. If I don’t want to eat in the Student Union, there are places right across the street that I can walk to. In addition, there are tons of delivery options from a few miles radius. Not only this, but the Student Union also has the C-Store which is basically our own grocery store. Since I don’t have my car with me on campus, I also thought buying essentials (like snacks or toiletries) would be difficult. I believed I would constantly have to ask my friends to drive me places. However, the convenience of having the C-Store in ACAC (slang for the Student Union) ensures that I don’t need to leave campus if I don’t want to unless it is extremely necessary. Other forms of accessibility come from the campus faculty. The Holmes Student Center is very central to all of campus, which is really great. There are dozens of resources that students can go to if needed, including psychological services, academic advisors, and more.
