Recent grad to work as an English teaching assistantAdkison

University of Tulsa alumna Bailey Adkison has been awarded a Fulbright award to begin teaching English in Argentina in March 2015.

Adkison graduated from TU’s Henry Kendall College of Arts and Sciences in December 2013 with a bachelor of arts degree in sociology and Spanish as well as a certificate in International Studies. Adkison will work at an English institute and assist faculty in training university-level students to become English teachers. The project is expected to last eight months. Following her work in Argentina, she plans to attend graduate school.

Adkison is a long-time volunteer at Catholic Charities, where she uses her Spanish education to connect with the Tulsa Latino community. She has taught Spanish GED and English courses to Hispanic adults.

The Fulbright U.S. Student Program provides grants for individually designed English teaching assistantships and research projects where students meet, work, live and learn from the residents of their host countries.
