Academic Scholarships

This scholarship is a partial tuition award based on students’ academic achievements in high school. Recipients will receive the scholarship for four years, contingent upon maintaining good academic standing.

Monetary value listed is per year and are average amounts. Meeting the standards listed on this scholarship table does not guarantee any level of scholarship.

Global Ambassador Scholarship

This scholarship is a partial tuition award. Recipients will receive the scholarship for four years, contingent upon maintaining good academic standing.

This scholarship seeks to recognize students who demonstrate exceptional leadership experience, outstanding academic achievements, and a compelling statement on their dreams and aspirations for tackling global challenges after completing their degree with TU.

Requirements:

  • Academic Achievement: Students who have participated and been recognized in the regional, national, or international competition are eligible for this scholarship.
  • Leadership experience: Participate in school or community activities to make an impact.
  • Statement of post-graduation goals.
  • Amount of this award: $10,000-20,000. It is stackable with international leadership scholarships (Merit scholarships).
  • To apply, please submit certificates of participation in national, regional, or international competitions.

Presidential Scholarship

Presidential Scholarship recipients are awarded full tuition for 8 semesters. Eligible students must have a 4.0 grade point average and must submit a separate application and resume when applying for the Presidential Scholarship. For more information, visit the Presidential Scholarship website.

International University Partnership Scholarship (2+2):

This scholarship is a partial tuition award. Recipients will receive the scholarship for two years, contingent upon maintaining good academic standing

  • $13,500
  • Students with a GPA of 3.0+ may be awarded an additional $10,000.
  • Only eligible with partner universities. For approved partners, please contact international@utulsa.edu.

IB Scholarship

TU will award an IB Merit Scholarship of $3,000 per year for IB students who complete the full IB diploma with a high school grade point average of at least 3.0. This scholarship is awarded with full time enrollment for 8 semesters or until you earn your first degree, whichever comes first. International Transfer Students from U.S. Institutions

This scholarship is a partial tuition award. Recipients will receive the scholarship for two years, contingent upon maintaining good academic standing.

International students who transfer from a U.S institution with more than 24 credit hours may be eligible for domestic transfer scholarship.

International Transfer Students from International Institutions

This scholarship is a partial tuition award. Recipients will receive the scholarship for two years, contingent upon maintaining good academic standing.

International students who transfer from an institution outside of the US with more than 24 credit hours may be eligible for the international transfer scholarship.

#YouAreWelcomeHere Scholarship

This scholarship is a partial tuition award. Recipients will receive the scholarship for four years, contingent upon maintaining good academic standing. Students must submit a separate application when applying for this scholarship. For more information, visit the #YouAreWelcomeHere Scholarship website.

The #YouAreWelcomeHere Scholarship was developed as a result of U.S. higher education institutions’ commitment to providing a welcoming, safe and diverse environment to international students. TU is proud to support this initiative by offering two annual, renewable scholarships to undergraduate applicants. This scholarship covers 50% of tuition costs and is renewable for up to four years of study.  The scholarships are open to first-year international students admitted for undergraduate degree-seeking study at TU – transfer students are not eligible for this scholarship.

Eligibility requirements

  • Be a first-year, undergraduate international applicant to TU and complete an application for admission.
  • Demonstrate interest and personal initiative in activities involving intercultural learning and exchange.
  • Applicants must complete the YAWH scholarship application and a 500-1000 word essay or a two-to-five minute video answering the following prompt: “Tell us about your leadership skills in your school or community, and how you plan to continue applying your leadership skills at The University of Tulsa.”
  • This should be uploaded to your status page or sent directly to international@utulsa.edu. If you have recorded a video, please send the link to international@utulsa.edu.

How to Apply

Scholarship Maintenance

  • Scholarship can be renewed for up to 4 years (Fall and Spring semesters only).
  • Maintain a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0.

Please note that this scholarship is not stackable with other scholarships.
