How can I apply for VA education benefits?
To apply for education benefits or to check eligibility or payment history, visit va.gov/education.
Before each semester, an enrollment certification will be completed and processed by the McKee Veterans Success Center.

Are there scholarships that I can apply for?
Yes, we keep a list of scholarship opportunities here.
Please keep in mind that these opportunities are not necessarily affiliated with TU or the McKee Veterans Success Center, and their being on the list does not ensure that a recipient will be chosen from TU.

Can I qualify for financial aid even though I receive VA benefits?
Yes. You should apply for your FAFSA. Please keep in mind that eligibility varies by student. Also, if you are only eligible for loans, you have the option to decline them.

How do I receive VA education benefits as a spouse or dependent?

Have you earned college credit before and want to apply to TU?
If you have obtained college credits since high school you will be using our transfer application. This application is for students who have previously enrolled at a college or university, including technical and military programs.

Are you a first-year college student looking to apply to TU?
If you will be entering as a first-year student, please use the first-year application. This application is for first-year applicants who have not attended a university or college since high school.

How long will it take for me to start receiving money from my VA benefits?
The McKee Veterans Success Center certifies student enrollments to the Department of Veterans Affairs before the term begins. Recipients of the Post-9/11 GI Bill® should receive funding for books, supplies and related expenses two weeks before the first day of classes.
Tuition and fees are not billed to the VA until after the add/drop period. Allow 10 to 14 business days after the add/drop deadline for tuition and fee benefits to be credited to your bursar account.

How many credit hours must I have to be considered full time?
For standard terms (fall and spring):
- Undergraduate and law students: 12 or more credit hours is considered full time.
- Graduate students: nine or more credit hours is considered full time.

Can I receive credit for my military training?
It is possible and evaluated on a case-by-case basis, depending on your anticipated degree plan. We encourage applicants to submit their military training records at the time of application.

Are there application and enrollment fees?
Yes; however, they are waived for student veterans.
