College Level Examination Program (CLEP)

The College-Level Examination Program (CLEP) is a widely accepted credit-by-exam program in the United States. CLEP exams allow a person to demonstrate knowledge that has been acquired through independent study, academic interests, or on-the-job training.  Each TU academic department decides how much credit and for which courses credit will be given for certain predetermined minimum scores. Official test scores must be forwarded directly from the CLEP Testing Center to the Office of the Registrar. CLEP exam score requirements for credit may be obtained through the Office of the Registrar.

Not all majors will accept CLEP credit toward major requirements. Please refer to your academic college to see if these are options for major-specific credit.

Students may earn a maximum of 36 credit hours through exam credit (AP, IB, A-Levels, CLEP, and/or Proficiency Exams)
