Undergraduate students may appeal transfer credit evaluation decisions for individual courses after transfer credits have been evaluated and processed with an official transcript by the Office of the Registrar. Course equivalency appeals can be submitted if a student does not agree with the equivalency that is assigned to their transfer course for the following reasons:
- The current assigned equivalency is generic free elective credit (i.e., FREL 1TR3) or a generic course by subject (i.e., ECON 2TR3) and the student believes there is a UTulsa course that would be a direct course equivalency.
- The current assigned equivalency is a direct equivalency for a UTulsa course, however, the student believes a different UTulsa course would be more appropriate.
Appeals must be submitted to the Office of the Registrar with supporting documentation. A syllabus is required for all transfer credit appeals; however, a student may also submit course topic schedule, course material examples, completed assignment examples, and/or a list of associate texts. Appeals will not be processed without a syllabus, and students will be notified if additional documentation is required before the appeal is reviewed. Following submission of the appeal, the Office of the Registrar will coordinate review of the appeal with the appropriate department chair. Once a decision has been made, results of the appeal will be communicated to the student and their assigned Student Success Coach.
If, regardless of course equivalency, credits would not satisfy program specific requirements, students should contact their assigned Student Success Coach to request a course substitution petition.
