Student Health Insurance - The University of Tulsa

Student Health Insurance

The university strongly recommends all students maintain private health insurance or participate in the Student Health Insurance Plan while enrolled at TU. All graduate students awarded a university assistantship, students enrolled in TU’s nursing program, intercollegiate athletes, and international students taking one or more credit hours are required to purchase the Student Health Insurance Plan.

Students who are required to have Student Health Insurance will be automatically enrolled and the full cost of annual coverage is added to their university bill in the Fall semester. However, the charge will be removed upon verification of other appropriate coverage, as long as it is received by the specified deadline. If a student is only here for one semester (fall or spring), the amount charged will be adjusted.

Verification must be received by September 15 for students enrolling in the fall and January 31 for students enrolling for the first time in the spring.

If you have adequate coverage, you can opt out of the university’s coverage by clicking below and completing the required documentation. Alternatively, if you are not required to participate in Student Health Insurance but would like to opt in, click below to begin the process. United Health Care coverage begins 8/1/2023.
