The Alexander Health Center offers the following services for all TU students and employees.
Treatment of Minor Illnesses and Injuries
- Respiratory infections
- Sore throats
- Seasonal allergies
- Skin disorders
- Abdominal pain
- Urinary tract infections
- Sexually transmitted infections
- Eye infections
- Orthopedic injuries
- Minor cuts and burns
The clinic physician must order all prescription medications.
The AHC is able to perform various lab tests, including: dipstick urine, strep screens, pregnancy tests, wet preps, hemocults, peak flow testing and EKGs. If additional lab work is needed, blood can be drawn at the clinic and sent to a reference lab. There is a fee for lab tests. X-rays/Diagnostic procedures can be done at a nearby facility off-campus if deemed necessary by a physician. The patient will be responsible for any charges incurred.
Testing and treatment of sexually transmitted infections including syphilis, chlamydia, gonorrhea, trichomoniasis, and herpes are available at the Health Center. HIV testing is also available. Referral to confidential sites off-campus can be made.
Women’s Health Services
Women’s Health Services are available by appointment for enrolled students. A family practice physician will perform annual gynecological exams including: breast exams, STI testing and treatment, contraceptive management and pregnancy testing. All exams are free; there is a minimal charge for lab work and medications, including birth control pills. Please call the clinic for more information.
The State of Oklahoma requires all students who attend Oklahoma colleges and universities to provide proof of immunization for certain diseases. Medical, religious and personal exemptions are allowed by law and must be made in writing using The University of Tulsa Certificate of Exemption form. Please refer to our Immunization Information page for more information.

Preventive Health Education
Health education programs and health screening tests are available throughout the school year. The Health Center staff collaborates with student and community organizations to promote healthy lifestyles.
