Our student Orientation Leaders are at the heart of what we do. We carefully select veteran student leaders who demonstrate a deep commitment to helping others succeed and who can serve as guides and catalysts for groups of new students. These exceptional young men and women bring with them a wide range of experiences in campus organizations, co-curricular activities, cultural encounters and academic excellence.
Our Orientation Leaders are responsible for almost all aspects of preparing for and running StartTU, our orientation experience for new students. They work with a small group of students throughout the experience and then stay in touch with their students throughout their first year of college to answer questions, help with challenges and boost student success.
Our Orientation Leaders also are an integral part of ImpactTU, our first-year leadership program. These leaders facilitate group discussions, share their personal stories and help with logistics.
Selection of Orientation Leaders is a rigorous process involving administrators, faculty and staff members from across the TU campus. Students interested in applying to become an Orientation Leader should look for information from the Office of New Student Programs and Services in mid-fall.
