Dear TU students and May graduates,
The University of Tulsa has received funds from the Department of Education to provide emergency financial aid grants to our students for expenses related to the disruption of campus operations due to the coronavirus.
The Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security Act (CARES Act), which established and funds the Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund (HEERF), directs The University of Tulsa to allocate emergency financial aid grants to students for expenses related to the disruption of campus operations due to coronavirus (including eligible expenses under a student’s cost of attendance such as food, housing, course materials, technology, health care and child care).
The University of Tulsa is required to follow the eligibility criteria defined by the Department of Education for the emergency financial aid grants. Only students who are or could be eligible to participate in programs under Section 484 in Title IV of the Higher Education Act of 1965, as amended (HEA), are eligible to receive the HEERF emergency financial aid grants.
If you do not already have a valid FAFSA on file, you should complete one to demonstrate your eligibility for these funds. You can complete one here.
Applications for the HEERF emergency financial aid grant must be received by 11:59 p.m. (Central) on May 25, 2020.
Once all applications are received and reviewed, if you are eligible to receive this emergency financial aid grant, then you will be emailed a notification of the award. If your bursar account is set up for automatic deposit, funds will be deposited directly into your account; if not, a check will be mailed to you. Please make sure the mailing address you have on file is up to date. We plan for notifications and disbursements to be made the week of June 1.
If you do not meet the requirements for this fund and have extenuating circumstances surrounding COVID-19, you may apply for consideration to receive funding from the Student Emergency Scholarship from The University of Tulsa. For more information, please email the Office of Financial Aid at email@example.com.
