Commencement FAQ

  • Is registration required for student participants?

    Registration is now closed for graduation candidates. If you have questions about your registration, email commencement@utulsa.edu.

  • Is registration required for guests of graduates?

    Yes. Each registered graduate will be allowed to reserve nontransferable tickets for up to four guests. Details will be provided by email to only those who registered for commencement. If you have reserved your tickets and have not received a confirmation email, please check your junk folder!

  • Will graduates be seated to maintain physical distancing?

    Yes, graduates will be seated in physically distanced seats.

  • Will guests be seated to maintain physical distancing?

    Yes, guests will be separated from other guests by six feet.

  • Will guests have to wear masks?

    Face coverings (over the nose and mouth) for guests 10 and older are required at all times on TU’s campus and inside of H.A. Chapman Stadium. This includes entry/exit, movement throughout the stadium grounds, in and around stadium seating, parking lots, concourses, bathrooms, concession stands, and at your seat. Plastic face shields can be worn in addition to, but not in replace of, a face covering over the nose and mouth. Patrons that refuse to wear masks inside the stadium, whether for medical and/or personal reasons will be denied entry into the stadium or will be required to leave stadium if already admitted. Masks will be provided to those who do not bring their own.

    We respectfully request that guests who are feeling sick or experiencing cold or flu-like symptoms (including fever, cough and shortness of breath), or who have a household member who is feeling sick or who have been in contact with an individual diagnosed with COVID-19 within the past 14 days not attend this event.

    Hand sanitizers stations will be available, and directional signage will be in placed throughout the stadium to indicate the direction of traffic.

  • Why is the undergraduate ceremony at 8:00 p.m.?

    We are hosting the undergraduate ceremony at 8:00 p.m. to allow time for cleaning and sanitizing between ceremonies, to provide relief in case of hot temperatures, to avoid the shifting glare during sunset, and in order to (hopefully) incorporate fireworks into the ceremony. A ceremony under the stadium lights will add a collegiate feel to an outdoor university commencement.

  • Where should I park?

    Students and guests are welcome to park in any unattended lot on campus on a first-come, first-served basis. A limited number of ADA and VIP parking spaces are available in the Lorton Village Apartment Lot and the Reynolds Center Lot. A map of campus is available online.

  • Carry-In and Clear Bag Policy

    In the event of rain, umbrellas will be allowed in the stadium. The clear bag policy will be in effect for graduation ceremonies. A detailed list of permitted items is available here. Carried-in items may be searched by personnel prior to entering the venues. Prohibited items must be returned to the owner’s vehicle or discarded.

  • Accessibility Services

    Due to a limited number of wheelchair ADA seats and seats for those who are hearing impaired, guests of registered graduates can call the TU ticket office at 918-631-4688 and press option 2, or email tuticketoffice@utulsa.edu. TU ticket office hours are Monday – Friday, 8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

    On-campus parking is available to guests on a first come, first served basis. ADA & VIP parking is available in the Lorton Village Apartments and the Reynolds Center Lot. A map of campus is available here.

     

     

  • Accommodations for Guests Who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing

    Sign language interpreting services for guests who are deaf or hard of hearing will be available. Due to a limited number of wheelchair ADA seats and seats for those who are hearing impaired, guests of registered graduates can call the TU ticket office at 918-631-4688 and press option 2, or email tuticketoffice@utulsa.edu. TU ticket office hours are Monday – Friday, 8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

  • Inclement Weather Plan
    We are excited to celebrate our graduates outside at H.A. Chapman Stadium. Average temperatures in Tulsa during May can vary greatly and temperatures inside the stadium typically run higher. Please monitor the weather forecast, dress appropriately, and be prepared for temperature variation or rain during the ceremony.

    Unfortunately, there is a chance of rain and severe weather Saturday. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, we do not have the option to move the ceremonies indoors. We plan to proceed in the rain as long as it is safe to do so. Please plan accordingly by bringing raincoats, ponchos and umbrellas, and by wearing appropriate footwear as the field will likely be wet. We are monitoring the weather very closely, and as of now, we are comfortable proceeding. If possible, we will announce any changes to the plan by 6 a.m. Saturday. Please check the TU website and the @utulsa.edu and @utulsaalumni Facebook pages for updates.
  • Will there be a December commencement ceremony?

    TU will no longer host commencement ceremonies for undergraduate and graduate students in December. Students intending to graduate in December 2021 should plan to participate in the May 2022 commencement ceremonies. The TU College of Law will, however, continue to hold a December hooding ceremony for its December graduates.

  • Will the ceremonies be livestreamed?

    All graduation ceremonies will be live streamed, each link can be found below.

  • CGE/ISS Grad celebration

    CGE/ISS will be hosting a Grad celebration via zoom on May 13th from noon – 1:00 pm via zoom.
