Join our progressive studies to gain valuable insight into ways Africans and African Americans have shaped the Americas of today.

TU’s African American Studies minor will have you emerging from the program with a better understanding of how Africans and African Americans have shaped the modern history and culture of the Americas. Part of the history program, our minor allows students to complement any major with classes in the history, literature, and culture of Africans and African Americans. You will experience various multidisciplinary courses, including African film, African politics, civil liberties in the United States, inequality in American society, colonial America, the history of rhythm and blues, and many more.
