About
Lara Foley, Ph.D., is a professor of sociology who studies the way people narrate their lives, relationships, and occupations and how their stories shape their identities. She’s particularly interested in identity work in liminal spaces, whether that be transitioning from dating to friendship after a breakup or being an international student, straddling two cultures. In the realm of occupational identity work, she has written about how people narratively navigate occupations that are marginalized, contested, in transition, or operate in two vocational fields.
