About
Tyler Johannes is a Professor and the Wayne Banes Rumley Chair of Chemical Engineering at The University of Tulsa. His professional expertise centers on the research areas of directed evolution, synthetic biology, algae biofuels, and carbon capture, utilization, and storage (CCUS). Johannes earned his B.S. in chemical engineering from Oklahoma State University and an M.S. and Ph.D. in chemical engineering from the University of Illinois. He is a licensed professional engineer in Oklahoma.
The Johannes Lab is dedicated to advancing the frontiers of directed evolution, synthetic biology, algae biofuels, and CCUS. The research work has been supported by substantial funding from various sources, including grants from the National Science Foundation, Department of Energy, Environmental Protection Agency, Oklahoma Center for the Advancement of Science and Technology, and industry partners.
