About
Pradeep Kurup, Ph.D., is an assistant professor of chemistry and biochemistry who focuses on the biochemical and cellular signaling pathways related to neuronal function. His work explores the implications of these pathways in neurodegenerative disorders and neuropsychiatric illnesses. He earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in biochemistry from the University of Madras and a Ph.D. in biotechnology from the University of Kerala, India.
Kurup further advanced his expertise during his postdoctoral training in neuroscience at Yale University School of Medicine. His career includes roles as a research scientist at both Yale University School of Medicine and the University of Alabama at Birmingham. In addition to his academic work, he has held a senior scientist position in the biotech industry, bridging the gap between research and real-world applications in biomedical science.
Kurup’s research aims to understand the brain’s complex molecular processes, with the ultimate goal of contributing to developing new therapeutic strategies for neurological diseases.
