Yi Qian, Ph.D., received his doctorate in electrical engineering from Clemson University in May 1996. He is currently Dean’s Professor in Computer Science and Chair of the Tandy School of Computer Science. Prior to joining UTulsa, Qian was a faculty member in the Department of Electrical & Computer Engineering at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln (UNL) from 2009 to 2025. During his tenure at UNL, he was honored as the William E. Brooks Engineering Leadership Fellow and the Jim and Gail Anderson Professor in the College of Engineering, recognizing his outstanding contributions in research, teaching, service and leadership. Before his academic career at UNL, Qian worked across the telecommunications industry, academia and government sectors. His research and teaching interests span cybersecurity, computer network security and computer and communication networks. He has made impactful contributions to both technological innovation and education. Qian is a Fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, recognized for his pioneering contributions to wireless communication networks and wireless network security.
