About
Rose Gamble, D.Sc., currently serves as the vice president for research and economic development. She is the Tandy Professor of Computer Science & Engineering in the Tandy School of Computer Science. She has a joint appointment in the School of Cyber Studies. Previously, she served as the senior associate dean for the College of Engineering & Natural Sciences. She is the director of the software engineering and architecture team, which performs a wide range of software engineering research and development projects. Her research projects focus on security and functional assurance for autonomous and self-adaptive systems. Currently, Gamble’s research team is supported by the Army Engineer Research and Development Center working on the autonomous, AI-based knowledge core component within a large project with multiple faculty and student teams on virtual reality uses for monitoring and securing smart installations. The knowledge core serves as the brain that interprets sensor data captured from the real installation and informs the virtual environment how to display the data to a remote user in one direction. It then translates the virtual interactions into real environmental actuation in the other direction.
