George Justice, Ph.D.

About

George Justice is provost and executive vice president for academic affairs at The University of Tulsa, where he is also professor of English. A specialist in eighteenth-century British literature, he is the author of research on the relationship between the publishing industry and literature. He is the editor of the Norton Critical Edition of Jane Austen’s “Emma.” Justice is currently working on an edition of Frances Burney’s third novel “Camilla” (1796) for Cambridge University Press and a short biography of Jane Austen for Reaktion Books. Justice has also published widely on contemporary issues in higher education and is the author of “How to Be a Dean” from Johns Hopkins University Press. He writes frequently for “The Chronicle of Higher Education.” Before coming to The University of Tulsa, Justice served as a professor and dean at the University of Missouri and at Arizona State University. He has also held academic positions at the University of Pennsylvania, Marquette University, and Louisiana State University.
