Associate Professor of Mechanical Engineering

Director of Biological Robotics at Tulsa Research Group

Technical Editor, IEEE/ASME Transactions on Mechatronics

About

Joshua A. Schultz, Ph.D., is an expert in motion systems in robotics and mechatronics. His group is inspired by motion systems in anatomy and physiology and works to understand what makes these biological systems so adaptable, reliable, and resilient, and apply these same principles to the design, operation, and control of robotic systems.

He has published work in robotics for rehabilitation, legged robot systems, hyper-redundant muscle-like actuators, soft robots with extremely flexible silicone bodies, and robotic hands, grasping and manipulation. He is active within the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers Robotics and Automation Society and has served on the editorial board and organizing committees of several conferences and journals.
