Scholarships

No additional application is required for a merit scholarship. All degree-seeking applicants are automatically and holistically considered for merit scholarships when they apply for admission.

University Scholarships for First-Year Domestic Students

Admitted students are automatically considered for a merit scholarship based on a full review of their comprehensive high school academic performance and completed TU application. For new full-time students, of prime importance are the student’s academic record and the results of national testing programs.

Applicants who submit a complete admission file after Feb. 1 are considered for merit scholarships based on available funding. Renewal is contingent upon full-time enrollment.

TU scholarships and grants, unless specifically stated, may be applied only toward tuition for full-time, first-degree-seeking students. Unless otherwise noted, the amount(s) listed on the award notice are yearly awards with one-half applicable to the fall and one-half to the spring semesters.

University scholarships will be credited to the student’s account no earlier than the first day of class each semester. These awards are made possible from general funds budgeted each year with approval from The University of Tulsa Board of Trustees.

National Merit Semifinalist Package

The University of Tulsa is pleased to award National Merit Semifinalists its highest academic scholarship, the National Merit Semifinalist Package. TU recognizes the outstanding academic success of a National Merit Semifinalist and believes these students will have a remarkable impact on campus life.

The university, along with the Oklahoma Board of Regents and the Board of Trustees, will invest over $263,000 per student (estimated $66,000 per year for four years) through the National Merit Semifinalist Package.

Presidential Scholarship

Presidential Scholarship recipients are awarded full tuition for eight semesters. Eligible students must have a 4.0 grade point average and must submit a separate application and resume when applying for the Presidential Scholarship. IB Scholarship

For students starting in fall 2023, TU will award an IB Merit Scholarship of $3,000 per year for IB students who complete the full IB diploma with a high school grade point average of at least 3.0. This scholarship is awarded with full time enrollment for eight semesters or until you earn your first degree, whichever comes first. Honors Program Scholarship

Honor Scholarships are awarded to new freshmen based on exceptional performance in high school, ACT or SAT scores and Honors Program application essay. Participation in Honors Program coursework is mandatory. The Honors Scholarship is a tuition based scholarship, that once combined with other TU scholarship opportunities cannot exceed the value of full-tuition. The maximum value of the scholarship is $2,000. This award is not available to students with a start date of Fall, 21 – Summer, 2024.

Music Scholarships for Majors and Non-Majors

Students majoring in music are eligible for a $4,000 scholarship. Students wishing to perform in a music ensemble as non-music majors are eligible for a $2,000 scholarship.

A limited number of full-tuition scholarships will be awarded to music majors. These funds cannot be combined with any TU scholarship funds or the TU Grant.

All scholarships will be awarded based on a School of Music audition. The deadline for auditioning for scholarship consideration is March 15, 2024. Visit the School of Music web page for additional information.

Art Scholarships

Art scholarships are available to full-time students majoring in art. Students interested in applying for the scholarship must prepare a portfolio of artwork or writing samples to be submitted as part of their application. Students must complete the online application and submit their portfolio no later than March 15 prior to their first year on campus. Students must also take part in an interview with the director of the School of Art, either in person or on the phone; interviews will be scheduled by the chair. Students must be accepted to The University of Tulsa before they can be considered for this undergraduate award.

Friends of Finance Scholarship

Friends of Finance Scholarship recipients are awarded $20,000 ($5,000 per year for four years) so long as they remain a finance major in the Collins College of Business. Recipients must also maintain a 3.2 GPA, attend five of seven Friends of Finance luncheons, and engage with a matched mentor (identified by the Collins College of Business) on a regular basis.

Spirit Squad Scholarship

This scholarship is a 50% tuition scholarship; these funds cannot be combined with any TU scholarship funds or the TU Grant. Our spirit squad members must maintain full-time enrollment, meeting all expectations outlined by the athletic department. This scholarship is awarded for a total of eight semesters, or completion of an undergraduate degree as long as the member is an active member of the spirit squad (cheer, pom and mascot).

University Scholarships for Transfer Students

Admitted students are automatically considered for a merit scholarship based on a full review of their comprehensive academic performance and completed TU application. The University of Tulsa offers unique scholarships for transfer students. Unless otherwise noted, the amount(s) listed on the award notice are yearly awards with one-half applicable to the fall and one half to the spring semesters:

Tulsa Achieves

Completed at least 12 hours (or in progress) in the TCC Tulsa Achieves Program
GPA: 3.25+

Award: $19,000

Phi Theta Kappa

Completed at least 30 hours and certificate of membership in PTK
GPA: 3.50+

Award: $24,000

TCC Honors

Awarded an Associates degree as an Honors Scholar
GPA: 3.50+

Award: $25,000

Refugee Scholarship

In effort to support the global refugee community, The University of Tulsa commits to an annual scholarship for one new student with refugee status or living in a refugee camp internationally. The scholarship will be awarded for up to eight semesters (four years) of undergraduate study or until they have earned their first bachelor’s degree, whichever comes first. This listing of Outside Undergraduate Scholarships is offered by other organization and foundations outside of The University of Tulsa.  Please remember, when you apply for outside scholarships, there should not be a fee to be considered for the scholarship.
