In Memory of J. Markham “Mark” Collins
J. Markham “Mark” Collins, Professor Emeritus of Finance and International Business at The University of Tulsa, passed away on Nov. 4, 2024. Mark retired in 2017 after 38 years of dedicated service in the Collins College of Business, where he held a variety of roles, including the Edward E. and Helen T. Bartlett Foundation Professor of Business, faculty director of Friends of Finance, director of graduate studies, and coordinator of international business programs.
Mark was a trailblazer who was a co-founder of the successful Friends of Finance organization, and he helped secure two important grants in the 1990s that launched UTulsa’s international business programs.
An internationally recognized scholar, Mark was awarded a prestigious Fulbright Professorship to Hungary in 2008. During his career, Mark taught professional development courses in finance on four continents, and he held semester-long academic appointments at the University of Hong Kong, the University of Auckland, New Zealand, and the University of Siegen, Germany.
Mark also was a loyal member of the UTulsa family who was deeply committed to his work. In 2001, he and his wife, Becky, established a planned gift for the J. Markham Collins Endowment for the Student Investment Fund.
We have lost a cherished member of the university family. Mark Collins will be remembered fondly for his superior scholarship, his caring mentorship, and his innovative spirit.
