In the summer of 2013, TU debuted its Canine Ambassador Program with the introduction of Goldie, a golden retriever puppy, who strengthens our relations with the Tulsa community and advances the university’s commitment to service and engagement.

Goldie attends TU events to promote recruitment and retention and Golden Hurricane athletics. She brings smiles to current students who may be missing their own pets or feeling stressed during finals week. She also takes part in select community activities in support of animal adoption and responsible pet ownership.

In addition to attending home sporting events, Goldie visits alumni in local retirement centers, participates in agility training and can be found attending meetings with faculty and staff across campus.

In 2015, TU’s four-legged athlete qualified for the annual North America Diving Dogs/AKC Eukanuba National Championship held Dec. 12 in Orlando, Fla. Our Golden Furricane placed eighth out of 18 dogs in her division. Go Goldie!
