Dear TU community,
The past year brought so many changes and disruptions to our individual and collective lives. As we enter this new year, I hope we discover innovative ways to interact positively and respectfully.
Although the university will be closed Monday, Jan. 18, to mark MLK Day, I invite you to join me in celebrating the life and legacy of the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. beginning Jan. 18 and continuing through Jan. 22.
The University of Tulsa is committed to acknowledging King’s contributions while maintaining the health and safety of our campus. A TU planning committee collaborated with representatives of our COVID-19 team to organize a week of virtual and in-person activities that follow university health guidelines. A full list of community engagement events can be found on TU’s calendar.
To continue our tradition of honoring King’s dream, there will be opportunities to participate in community service at several outdoor locations on Wednesday, Jan. 20. If you would like to volunteer, please click here to sign up. Faculty and staff may consult TrueBlue Neighbors’ Employee Community Service Paid Leave Program regarding time off for these service-related activities.
I encourage you to join us in this campus-wide effort to keep our community safe while remembering Martin Luther King Jr. and the ongoing importance of his life’s work.
