Welcome to the Eta Rho Chapter of Beta Alpha Psi, the international honorary and service organization for financial information professionals. Membership is open to students pursuing a major or minor in accounting, finance, or MIS who maintain a high GPA. The Eta Rho chapter invites all students and local professionals to attend our monthly Wednesday lunch meetings.
The “BETA” in Beta Alpha Psi represents Scholarship. The “ALPHA” in Beta Alpha Psi represents Social Responsibility. The “PSI” in Beta Alpha Psi represents Practicality.
The primary objective of the organization is to encourage and give recognition to scholastic and professional excellence in the business information field. This includes promoting the study and practice of accounting, finance and information systems; providing opportunities for self-development, service and association among members and practicing professionals, and encouraging a sense of ethical, social, and public responsibility. Beta Alpha Psi was founded in 1919.

The Eta Rho Chapter was established at the University of Tulsa in 1990. At each of our monthly professional meetings, we provide free lunch and a speaker, usually from a local firm or organization. We also have opportunities to socialize with each other and with local professionals throughout the semester.
To be eligible for membership in Beta Alpha Psi you must:
- have declared a concentration in accounting, finance or information systems;
- have completed, in addition to two years of collegiate courses, at least one upper level course beyond the business core;
- have attained a cumulative grade average in upper level courses, in their declared area of concentration, beyond the business core of at least 3.0 (where A is equal to 4.0) or the equivalent;
- and have attained at least a cumulative grade average of 3.0, or have achieved a rank within the top 35% of their university class, or have attained at least a 3.25 cumulative grade average on the most recently completed 30 semester hours;
Members and candidates who meet all the membership and activity requirements the semester of graduation earn the honor of wearing Beta Alpha Psi honor cords at graduation.
Membership dues are $20 per semester or $35 per year. There is an additional one-time pledge fee of $55 due when you are inducted as a candidate.
Activity Requirements Per Semester
Professional Events: Everyone must attend 7 hours worth of professional events. BAP will provide at least 7 hours. 4 of the 7 hours must be BAP sponsored. The remaining 3 hours can be either BAP or non-BAP sponsored. (non-BAP = iTU, Friends of Finance, NABA, OSCPA luncheons, etc.)
Community Service: Everyone must perform 5 hours of community service. BAP will provide at least 5 hours. 3 of the 5 hours must be BAP sponsored. The remaining 2 hours can be either BAP or non-BAP sponsored.
Social Events: Everyone must attend 1 out of 2 socials offered. No substitutions are allowed on socials.
Mandatory Events: BAP Challenge (Fall), Candidate Induction, New Member Initiation, Soiree (Spring), Committee Work (everyone must participate on a committee)
