Biological science seniors Bruce Bigler of Tulsa and Archit Dash of Reno, Nevada, will serve as The University of Tulsa’s Student Government Association (SGA) 2026-27 president and vice president, respectively. The two aim to prioritize campus values and enhance the future of student groups by encouraging collaboration and efficiency between organizations.
SGA encourages growth for all UTulsa students through an enriching social environment. By empowering students, the association provides the means for intellectual, social and cultural experiences on and off campus, igniting positive transformations throughout the university.
Bigler, who plans to attend law school, and Dash, who plans to attend medical school, say the friendly atmosphere and supportive programs were heavy factors in their decision to attend UTulsa. “I couldn’t have been more excited to be a part of such an excellent university!” commented Bigler.
Beyond classes and labs, Bigler and Dash said the Department of Biological Sciences in UTulsa’s Oxley College of Health & Natural Sciences has provided them opportunities to shape and grow their communication, time management and ability to face challenges. These growing skills shape how they approach their new student body leadership positions. As a part of their plan for the future of the SGA, Bigler and Dash intend to prioritize collaboration and unity on campus when enacting changes. Bigler strives to be a voice for students, while Dash endeavors to retain UTulsa’s vibrant and abundant campus life.
Alongside the goals they hope to accomplish while in the SGA office, Bigler and Dash state that they are grateful for what the roles will offer them. “I saw the role of president as a clear way to be that change that I wish to see,” said Bigler. While the fall semester is just beginning, the two are confident and eager for future opportunities.
