From the moment I first stepped on campus I knew the University of Tulsa would be my home for the next four years. I was instantly awed by the incredible campus architecture, tree shaded sidewalks, and of course the extraordinary McFarlin Library. I knew I could see myself fitting in on this campus, but one of the biggest reasons I was drawn to this university was due to the amazing University Ambassador who was giving me a tour around campus. This amazing student leader not only gave me so much information about the campus and life at TU, but she also managed to make me feel as if I were already a part of the Tulsa family and spoke to me as if we had been friends forever. She helped me get a real understanding of the inclusive, friendly, diverse community that the University of Tulsa has to offer and explained exactly how I could fit in and contribute on campus. After this tour I knew TU was the place for me. Now, one year later I am now able to witness the true value of a TU education. The small class sizes allow for a more personalized learning experience and a closer bond between professors and their students. This is so beneficial in the long run, especially when these professors can help you earn research positions, leadership roles, or other opportunities during your college career. These opportunities and personalized learning experiences are what make the University of Tulsa so unique and special. The small sized campus allows students to connect with each other and create a tight-knit community across campus. A few weeks ago I was attending RUF, an amazing on campus ministry which I was just starting to get involved in. At one of the first meetings, I recognized a familiar face which I’d never thought I’d get the chance to see again. It was the incredible University Ambassador who had given me my tour. She remembered me, and I finally got the chance to say “thank you” to her for helping me make the decision to come to TU. These kinds of experiences display what makes TU such a strong and supportive community and shows off the incredible opportunities that small schools have to offer.
