Going to college can be a very scary and nerve-racking event for everyone. A common theme for incoming college freshmen is the idea of not knowing anyone or not having friends. Both of these applied to me when I first came to The University of Tulsa. I always wondered how long it would take me to find the right friend group like I did in high school. Being on the football team here at TU definitely propelled this process for me.
Through the football team I was able to meet so many amazing people from players to coaches and everyone in between. Everyone was so welcoming and helpful and I think that is a testament of the people of TU. The football program is one big family no matter your race, differences, whether you are poor or wealthy it is just one big melting pot. I remember people telling me my senior year of high school that you meet your true closet friends in college not high school. I never believed this saying until I was here and I can say it is nothing but the truth. I have been able to meet some of the closest people I will ever be with here at TU. I have zero regrets coming to this university I would have never met the people that I was blessed to be on a team with and life. On the football team at TU, one of our biggest attributes is “family.” While probably every program in the country preaches family, I would be willing to bet that Tulsa carries out that word the best. If you want to come build relationships are strong and will last forever then The University of Tulsa is your place to be.
