Caring Professors

As a student, life consists of studying, completing work for classes, and hanging out with friends which are spread out throughout the week. However, every possible combination of assignments, important meetings, and tests seem to converge on a single day without any warning. If having to take thermodynamics, differential equations, and statics tests on a single day were not bad enough, my job interview as a student tutor was scheduled right after. Luckily, I was not left unprepared for the many challenges that I faced during my time as a student at the University of Tulsa.

I am grateful for the opportunities I get with my professors and their eagerness to help me fill in the conceptual gaps within each subject. I feel special because the smaller student-to-faculty ratio allows me to ask more questions and work with professors one-on-one to discuss class materials. Compared to larger universities, lectures at the University of Tulsa are fun, personal, and engaging because the faculty are engaging in conversation and making sure that I understand the material.

For example, Professor Christian Constanda, a math professor at the University of Tulsa, blends his lectures with class discussions, example problems, and step-by-step instructions—all conglomerating into an experience that is missing from large universities and their theatre-sized lecture rooms. Having attended other colleges in California, my time learning at TU is special because I feel like the professors sincerely care about my success.

Overall, the connections that I make with my professors and the other students in my class create a learning environment that fosters my academic growth and allows me to thrive in stressful situations.
