The Center for Innovation & Entrepreneurship (CIE) is thrilled to announce the appointment of Taleya Mayberry-Smith as the manager of entrepreneurial programs. This marks a momentous occasion for the CIE and CCB as they continue to strengthen and broaden their entrepreneurship program. The JOLT program, experiencing consistent growth each semester, now boasts participation from over 167 students across all TU colleges in co-curricular programming, student competitions, and events.

Mayberry-Smith will assume the role of overseeing the JOLT program, further building upon the solid foundation established by faculty and outstanding student officers. Nathan Woolard will maintain his position as the CCB faculty adviser for JOLT.

In addition to her responsibilities with the JOLT programs, Mayberry-Smith will contribute to the development of new TU accelerator and startup initiatives. She will also play a pivotal role in fostering community and national partnerships, providing valuable resources and opportunities for students, faculty, and alumni. Mayberry-Smith, previously director of operations for ACT House, a Tulsa-based accelerator program sponsored by the George Kaiser Family Foundation (GKFF), officially joined TU on Jan. 16.

Mayberry-Smith is a dynamic leader with a robust operational background, offering a combination of strategic insight and diverse experience. She is dedicated to leaving a lasting impact on economic development, multi-generational wealth, and organizational success, both within her community and beyond.

A Tulsa native and a TU alumna, Mayberry-Smith’s profound connection to the city’s vibrant ecosystem fuels her enthusiasm for fostering strategic partnerships and driving transformative change. Her journey, encompassing a rich history both on and off the court, includes a significant role in the sports arena.

Before her position at ACT House, Mayberry-Smith left a remarkable imprint by coaching Division I basketball at The University of Tulsa and playing professionally overseas for several years. This not only highlights her exceptional leadership skills but also showcases her ability to thrive under pressure.

Leveraging her operational expertise and passion for making a difference, Mayberry-Smith is committed to creating a positive and sustainable impact in her new role as the director of programs at The University of Tulsa’s Collins College of Business. She excels at delivering successful outcomes, and her track record of driving wins is a testament to her unwavering commitment to excellence.
