Classroom Success

One story that I would like to share is my professors having my success coach talk to me about my grades. I wasn’t doing so hot in two classes but this professor name Dr. Wickel in my health sciences class contacted my success coach, Ms. Kathy.

I did not know that he contacted her until I got an email from her. He contacted her because he wanted to see me thrive and do well at my time here at TU. I was honestly so surprised and taken back by it. Offended even but then I realized why.

In high school, I did really well but the transition to college life especially in a pandemic was really hard on me. By him contacting her I set up weekly meetings talking about to study and bring up my grades.

We also had conversations about my homework assignments and what is a priority. I still struggled in his class, but we would come back to the drawing board and helped me find a new way to me look at things. If he would not have reached out to her, I do not think I would have found better techniques as I was trying to find a healthy balance for me mentally. I took his class second semester and took a heavy load. I did really well in my fall semester but realized that was not healthy for me at all. So with his and her help I was able to find my healthy balance. I ended up passing his class thanks to both of them including my hard work.
