TU has excellent job placement, and there is a reason why. Since my first year, I have had multiple interactions with both the career center and employers. It is not uncommon to have the career center give a presentation to a class, or even an employer visits a classroom. There are many professional networking opportunities during your time at TU.
One of these opportunities is the career fair, which occurs in the fall. This is a great time to meet with employers that want to hire college students. The staff at the career center does their best to get students ready for this, so it’s hard to go in unprepared. This past spring, I was very interested in finding an internship for the summer. Most employers make these decisions in the fall semester, but TU still held a career fair for the few that were interested in finding more interns. I attended sessions hosted by the career center the week before the fair, in which we discussed interview tips, resume formatting, and other career related topics. I met with Paycom at the fair and was rushed through the interview process.
Thanks to these workshops, I was able to perform well in my interactions with the company and I was ultimately selected for the internship. These sessions better prepared me for discussions with employers, and I probably wouldn’t have been selected for an internship if I didn’t attend them. There truly isn’t another place like TU if you want to go somewhere that cares about your career. Emails go out every week with new employment opportunities, and they are always ready and able to help with anything you may need during your career search.
