Professor of Marketing Charles Wood has been accepted as a participant in the inaugural Faculty Innovation Fellows program at Stanford University. Wood’s work builds on his role as faculty champion of The University of Tulsa’s involvement in the University Innovation Fellows (UIF) program, which is administered by Stanford’s Hasso Plattner Institute of Design.

Faculty Innovation Fellows mentor the students taking part in the UIF program. This year, seven TU students were chosen to be UIF participants. Wood and the TU UIF students will work together across a global community to support the program’s collective efforts while also helping TU innovate.
Twenty educators from 16 higher education institutions around the world were selected to take part in the inaugural Faculty Innovation Fellows program. In this two-year undertaking, faculty and staff will work to design unique projects that enhance the innovation ecosystems at their schools and help students gain real-world skills and mindsets.
“A key strategic focus for TU is fostering a culture of innovation,” Wood remarked. “I believe that means all of us — faculty, students and staff – need to learn how to innovate effectively, collaborate and implement our best ideas to continuously improve the campus and local community. Some of the world’s top innovators are in Silicon Valley and at Stanford University, and they developed the UIF program to train and inspire change-makers on campuses around the world. TU has been fortunate to have students of various majors involved in the UIF program for the past four years, and I feel honored to join them as one of the first 20 Faculty Innovation Fellows worldwide.”
