Faingold publishes book on Scandinavian language policies, rights

Professor Eduardo Faingold recently published a new book examining language policies in constitutions, statutes, and regulations in Scandinavian countries. The book, Language Rights and the Law in Scandinavia: Sweden, Denmark, Norway, Iceland, the Faroe Islands, and Greenland, takes a look at the modern languages descended from Old Norse – Swedish, Danish, Norwegian, Icelandic, and Faroese – and adopts a comparative approach to trace the development of language policies and rights in Scandinavia.

Faingold is a professor of Spanish and linguistics in The University of Tulsa School of Language and Literature. He has authored numerous articles in journals such as Language Problems and Language Planning, Journal of Pidgin and Creole Language, Journal of Psycholinguistic Research and more. In addition to this most recent book, he is currently working on another detailing the Spanish language in contact with Hebrew and Yiddish languages throughout Latin America, Europe, and Israel.
