Immediately after moving into my Fisher South dorm freshman year, I went upstairs to meet Meadow, who would end up being my partner in crime during my time at TU. We’ve been inseparable since the first week of classes and roommates since spring of freshman year. While we’re able to hang out and have fun, we’re also able to rely on each other when needed; whether it be helping with homework, giving advice, or just being someone to talk to. There’s something about Tulsa’s small and friendly campus that encourages the development of close and meaningful relationships like this. Any college student could tell you college life is difficult; and that it’s even more difficult to deal with alone.
It is incredibly important to foster a network of close and meaningful friends to help navigate the newness and excitement of attending college; and there is no shortage of kind and dependable friends to be found at TU. Since freshman year, Meadow and I have been finding new friends in common spaces, organizations, and campus events and I’ve enjoyed every minute of it. Whether you know someone for a single conversation or end up with a lifelong friend; meeting people is one of the great joys of being in college, surrounded by unique, interesting, and relatable peers. I’ve found that the University of Tulsa has an incredible collection of diverse and kind-hearted individuals that allows everyone to find their family on campus; I’ve certainly found mine.
