First-Year Student

First-year student orientation at the University of Tulsa was an experience I recommend any outsider of the university of Tulsa experience to become better acquainted with what it truly means to be a part of the TU community. First-year student orientation began even before the actual week of orientation. When my feet first stepped out of the car with a bag in each hand, filled with apparel and knick-knacks from home, my eyes drank up the sight of the dormitories at the university. Fisher south was to be my residency for the next year at the very least and it did not disappoint with its accommodations. The Residential Advisors, fellow students who had already had a couple of years tallied onto their transcripts were as bright and warm as the sun was on that temperate August day. When first-year student orientation began, the feeling of being a part of something bigger than just being a student at a local high school was already filling my mind with the soothing nature of comradery. The days were filled with breaking the ice and enjoying the company of new friends. The campus beauty marveled that of any visited once before, this was very apparent during the glowstick scavenger hunt our peer leaders set us out on. First-year student orientation was the best of times without the worst times, the food was spectacular that they served us, and the activities prepared were engaging and enjoyable. The friends I made during those weeks were some of the most interesting and affable people I have had the pleasure of meeting.
