As we are well into the fall semester, I am excited to bring you the latest updates from the Collins College of Business. Before I dive into what’s on the horizon, let’s take a moment to reflect on the remarkable moments that have unfolded this semester.
The official opening of Goldie’s Grounds, powered by Williams, exceeded our expectations. The warm embrace of our community, alongside the enthusiasm of our students, faculty, and partners, made this event truly unforgettable. To add to the excitement, Tulsa Mayor G.T. Bynum included the opening of Goldie’s Grounds as one of the highlights of his “18 Stops for 918 Day.” Goldie’s Grounds is a coffee/entrepreneurial hub that is managed by She Brews Coffee House, a nonprofit in Kendall Whittier that helps justice involved women.
At a recent Friends of Finance event, we proudly announced the seed funding of two exceptional companies through the Hurricane Ventures Fund. AirWise finds its roots in our alumni community, showcasing the entrepreneurial spirit fostered here. The second company, SkinCheck, is a testament to the innovative spirit of our current students, who are already making waves in the business world.
Our dedicated faculty members are gearing up for exciting study abroad trips in the coming spring semester. Students in our Innovation and Entrepreneurship minor will embark on a transformative journey to Ireland, while our Energy Management students will gain invaluable insights during their visit to Norway. These international experiences are invaluable in shaping our students into globally aware leaders.
As part of our ongoing commitment to fostering strong alumni connections, I am personally visiting several cities to meet with alumni and donors. If you find yourself in Dallas, Dublin Orleans, or Dubai, I invite you to reach out to Amy Gerald, who can coordinate a meeting. I am eager to connect with you and answer questions about the great innovations going on in our college.
Your support and dedication to the Collins College of Business enable us to fulfill our mission of educating the next generation of business leaders making an impact.
With gratitude,
Kathy Taylor
